Our 74th Show is on 10th July 2025
Chairpersons Welcome
Chairperson’s Welcome.
Welcome one and all to our 73rd annual show. I hope you enjoy your day with us in Killag. We are very grateful to James and Veronica White who give their land each year, a superb site for the show.
We have classes for horses, cattle, ponies, donkeys, sheep, goats, poultry and pets corner, with the final of the Three Year old Horse All Ireland Championship starting at 1.30pm in Ring 1. Today we are celebrating 25years of this competition in association with Galway Irish Crystal/Belleek China and Horse Sport Ireland. We have a roll call of the previous winners in Ring 1 before the final today. Show Jumping runs all day in Arena 1,2 and 3, with great competitions to look forward to. The dog show is a big attraction to the show and we welcome the Sheep Dog Trials. In the Home Industry section, there are great entries in all sections, with a wonderful array of baking and crafts on show today. The National School Section is well worth a visit.
We have a large number of Trade Stands on the field today. We appreciate the efforts made by all the businesses who are on site today. We wish them continued success in their ventures.
A big thank you to our loyal exhibitors and sponsors who support us so readily. You make the show the success that it has grown to be and we value your support. Thank you to our large volunteer work force on the day. Your help is much appreciated, without it we could not run our show.
I am very proud to be part of such a wonderful committee who are dedicated to the successful running of the show. They work tirelessly to promote and develop the show. Long may that support continue. It is the foundation on which the show thrives. Each member has worked so hard to get to this point today. We remember two loyal members of our committee who passed away during the year, Peter Hayes and William Sweetman. We think also of all who have suffered bereavements during the year, many of whom had strong connections with the show. Our thoughts are with you.
In our Food Village, we welcome the young cooks from the local National Schools where the contestants are vying to be crowned cook of the show today.
We welcome the talented Olivia Douglas, Sinéad Black and T&N Danceband on stage today for what promises to be a great afternoon of dancing. We hope to see you on the dance floor.
We have lots of free entertainment for children on site, namely Joe Daly the Magician. John O’Reilly and Liam Shaky & Co Musical Games and Craft Central with Face Painting. We hope you join in the fun. The Fashion Show attracts large number of spectators at 3pm
We hope you enjoy your day with us in Killag. If you do, please tell your friends. If not, please tell us.
Show Chairperson,
Betty Stafford.
